Your Privacy and Security

We’ll keep you safe by ensuring that any personal information collected by us is kept private and protected. We abide by the Data Protection Act 1998* and we are registered on the public register of data controllers maintained by the Information Commissioner.

You’ll have complete control over the information stored about you and you can choose what type of information - if any – you are happy to receive from us. In some cases, we’ll ask you to prove your identity before we provide your personal information – this is to protect against unauthorised access.

Your Details

We’ll ask you for information about yourself if you buy a Virgin Gift Card online. This will include your name, contact details such as phone and e mail, and credit card details. We need this information to process your order, to send you your Gift Card and so we can get in touch if we have any queries about your order.

We do not provide this information to any third party, except to the extent and for the purpose we may be required to do so by any law.

We'll only use your data when you have given us permission to do so. When you purchase a Gift Card, the checkout process will clearly state:

"We may from time to time send you information about our products and services and those offered by other companies in the Virgin Group; details of our special offers or promotions; and any other advertising or marketing materials that we think might interest you. If you would like to be contacted by us please tick the box below."


Why might we contact you?

From time to time, we may have details of special offers, promotions, competitions, and information about products and services we want to share because we think may be of interest to you. If you want to hear about this, please tick the box when purchasing your Gift Card. Remember, we won't use your details for direct marketing unless you agree to this.

Other Virgin Group companies or Third Parties may also wish to contact you – again, if you are happy to receive this information then please tick the box to agree.

You always have the right to object, at any time, to your personal data being used for direct marketing purposes by us or by third parties and other Virgin Group companies. Just let us know.


Your personal information

Your personal information will not be transferred to other Virgin Group companies without your consent, except:

  • as required by law
  • if you've requested specific information

If you give us your consent by ticking the box when you purchase your Gift Card, then we may share your personal data with other Virgin Group companies so that they may contact you with any information they believe may be of interest to you. Or, we may send you details of goods, services, promotions and offers provided by other Virgin Group companies which we think may interest you.

We may use your personal data in order to analyse our customer base, and statistical information may be shared with third parties and other Virgin Group companies - but we'll keep it anonymous

We will never rent or sell our customer lists to any other organisation or individual. Customer lists may be used to process customer information and research customer's needs and preferences.


Outside the EU

You should be aware that countries outside the European Union may have a lower standard of protection for personal information than that required by the Data Protection Act 1998. If it is necessary to transfer your data to a company based outside the EU (e.g. for the purpose of completing a contract for your benefit) then we'll make every effort to ensure that your personal data is processed in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998, as implementing the EU Directive on the Protection of Personal Data (95/46/EC), and any other Act or Acts replacing or modifying such Act for the time being in force, through the implementation of an agreement ensuring adequate protection of your personal data.

Our website has security installed to ensure that any personal data entered onto the site is protected against loss, misuse or alteration.

However, due to the nature of the Internet, we can't guarantee the protection of your personal information and we can't be responsible for any outcomes resulting from a breach of security when the website is used.

Requesting access to your data

If you wish to know what personal information we hold about you then you can request, at any time, access to all personal information held by us which relates to you. You should write to us on at the above address, enclosing proof of identity such as a copy of your passport or driving license, requesting access to your personal information. You may have to pay a small administrative fee. You are entitled to be told by us within 40 days of a valid written request, whether we or someone else on our behalf is processing your personal information; what personal information we hold on you; together with details of the purposes for the processing and details of any third party to whom your personal information has been disclosed.
